Aviva Community Fund

We have submitted an application for funding to the Aviva Community Fund.

The orchestra has been in existence since 1984, and some of the instruments need replacing and we need to acquire new percussion instruments. Most orchestral players provide their own instruments, but it is different with percussion - normally the orchestra buys them. The instruments we most need are a xylophone, cymbals with a stand and a snare drum. With £1,000 we could buy all three. Just imagine the difference that these instruments would make to the percussion players and to all of the orchestra.

Voting has now closed. Thank you for all the support we received.

Welcome to our 2017/18 season.

We've got another exciting season of orchestra music lined up. A wide range of composers is represented - Mozart to Holst, Borodin to Tchaikovsky. Combined with a lovely variety of musical styles, from suites to symphionies, concertos to rhapsodies, there’s sure to be something for everyone.

We are particularly delighted this season to be featuring the amazingly talented Andrew Harsley, winner of the 2016 Norfolk Young Musician of the Year competition. He will be playing to solo in Elgar’s much loved Cello Concerto in our summer concert. Don’t miss this treat!

Details of all the concerts in our upcoming season can be found on our Concerts page.

We introduced a new pricing policy last season, and it worked very well. All adult tickets are £12, with children under 16 a mere £2. Members of our Friends scheme (and their friends!), pay just £10. See our Friends page for more details of the benefits of becoming a Friend. We’ve also introduced discounts for a set of tickets to all three concerts. Further details on the Concerts page.

Wymondham Symphony Orchestra...

is a friendly, lively and ambitious group of musicians that plays regular concerts at a variety of locations within the Norfolk area. We have received much critical acclaim for our sensitive and involving perfomances.

We attract members from all walks of life and provide them with the satisfaction of playing in an ensemble that has the skill and confidence to play exciting and demanding works.

We have built up an enviable reputation, and are able to attract professional soloists of the highest calibre. We also encourage young talented soloists from Norfolk to play with us, often their first concerto with a symphony orchestra.

Generally, we play three concerts a year, although we occasionally undertake additional events. We also hold an annual Open Rehearsal (see the Rehearsals page for more details) and have regular social events. It’s not just about making music - we also like to have fun!
