Rehearsals

Rehearsals are held every Tuesday evening during school term-time. We rehearse in the North Hall of Wymondham High School; the entrance is off Folly Road (click here for a map). Rehearsals start at 19:45 and finish at 21:45. We generally have ten evening rehearsals before each concert. We also have an afternoon rehearsal on the day of the concert.

Annual Open Rehearsal

Some years ago, for fun, we held an open rehearsal - anyone could come along and try out the experience of playing with a symphony orchestra. It was so successful, and so many people asked us to repeat the event, that we now hold it annually, generally in May or June. The format is simple - one or two pieces are selected by our Musical Director, and these are given the full rehearsal treatment. The evening then ends with a play-through.

2010 Open Rehearsal

We’ve now decided a date - Tuesday 11 May. The rehearsal will start at our usual time of 19:45 and finish at 21:45. We’ve chosen a selection of Dvorak’s Slavonic Dances - well known, great fun and just slightly challenging.

Membership

Our high artistic standards don’t prevent us from being a friendly group of musicians, always willing to accept new members in our midst. If you are of Grade VII or above, or are of the equivalent standard, we’d love to hear from you. If we don’t have an immediate vacancy, we’ll happily keep your name on file.
